In Riobamba we recommend the beautiful hacienda Abraspungo. If you want a taste of the bustle in the old center, then it is best to go to Santa Isabella. Rincon Aleman, on the other hand, is a very well maintained, simpler hotel in a quieter area of the city with good personal guidance. In Guamote is the beautiful Inti Sisa, a small hotel that is part of a development project.

This beautiful hotel is housed in an ancient hacienda. The hotel has thirty-eight comfortable rooms, all named after a mountain in Ecuador and decorated with great attention to the colonial style. Hosteria La Andaluza

Hostería La Andaluza is located in the valley of Guano, about a ten minute drive from Riobamba. It offers a nice view of the surrounding mountains. On clear days you can see the Chimborazo volcano behind the Hostería. The hotel has spacious rooms, all with bathroom and heating. Inti Sisa

Guamote is a small mountain village known for its indigenous people and traditions. As part of an integral development project, Inti Sisa offers 23 beautiful guest rooms here. All rooms have private bathrooms. In addition, you can also enjoy good food in the guesthouse. The project provides support to the local residents of Guamote. On Thursday morning you step out the door and end up in the most beautiful indigenous market in Ecuador. The project is run by a few Flemish volunteers.

La Quinta

This beautiful hotel is housed in a restored wine estate. The domain is cultural heritage of the city of Alausi. You will find yourself here in a beautiful setting, near the railway station of Alausi. The hotel has about 7 standard rooms and one suite. In the restaurant you can have a nice meal and after the meal you can go to the bar for a drink.
After a long closure due to Covid and also caused by the cancellation of the Nariz del Diablo train route, the hotel reopened in early 2023.

Chimborazo Lodge

At the foot of Chimborazo, in the Totorilla Valley at 4,000 meters above sea level, is the Chimborazo Lodge. This lodge sits on the ruins of the historic refugio Tambo, a haven for travelers since pre-Columbian times. The lodge is on the border of the Chimborazo National Park, surrounded by the original páramo where llamas and alpacas graze. It is the ideal place to enjoy nature. The lodge does not have internet access. From here you can do several hikes independently, or you can visit the Chimborazo volcano with a guide. The lodge belongs to Marco Cruz, now elderly but once Ecuador’s most famous mountaineer.
