This protected area is located in the north of Guayaquil, within the city limits. The aim is to recover the native vegetation and wildlife that previously existed in the area and provide space for family recreation. The area has a 2.4 kilometer stretch of coastline on the banks of the River Daule, which can also be used for recreational and tourist purposes.
Within this area there are still some remnants of arid forests and the floodplains of the Guayas catchment area. Since its establishment as a protected area, various facilities have been developed to promote sports and recreation.
